It has been handed down with certainty that the construction work for the track extension and the installation of a switch connection began today in the Berlin-Treptow freight yard. In the next few days, the vegetation on the construction site will be removed and the area of the future tracks will be levelled. BUG Verkehrsbau AG started the preparatory work 2 weeks earlier than originally planned. In doing so, it takes into account our customers‘ desire to reduce the time restrictions on the use of our railway infrastructure to a necessary minimum.
After completion of the construction work on October 4th, 2014, our customers will have 2 tracks in the heart of the federal capital, each with a usable length of 555 meters. The new switch connection to be created will then enable us to load and unload 2 trains at the same time. With this, the Gbf Berlin-Treptow, especially for the extension of the Berlin city autobahn A100, which began in February. Directing the flow of traffic for the supply and disposal of this construction project via the extended freight station represents a significant relief for the environment and residents alike.
